Avalon Riverview Reaches Out

Ins&Outs would like to commend Avalon Riverview on their recent efforts to help clothe, clean, and feed LIC.

On October 25, Avalon Riverview, an AvalonBay apartment community, hosted a neighborhood cleanup and a food and clothing drive to benefit Long Island City and HELP USA, a nonprofit organization in the NY area. The staff's effort was part of a nationwide partnership between AvalonBay Communities and USA Weekend, which sponsors "Make a Difference Day." The event raised more than 1,500 items of food and clothing for HELP USA and cleaned up over 25 bags of trash from LIC (an estimated 200 pounds or so). The New York City Department of Sanitation supported the initiative and awarded Avalon Riverview the Partner in a Cleaner New York Certificate of Recognition.

"At AvalonBay, one of our core values is a Spirit of Caring," said Trinity Blue, AvalonBay Vice President of Property Operations. "It's encouraging to see that this spirit of giving to others has been embraced not only by our associates, but also by the residents of our apartment communities. This caring spirit is part of what makes Avalon Communities a great place to work and live." Of "Make a Difference Day," she said, "We are extraordinarily proud to partner with so many other volunteers across the country on this very special day of neighbors helping neighbors."

Avalon Riverview is a 372 apartment home community that also includes commercial businesses and is located at 2-01 50th Ave. in LIC. More info at: www.avalonbay.com. Thanks to Mounir Ibrahim for informing I&O about this admirable effort!
